The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is set to release its final report today regarding the revision of electricity tariffs, following a comprehensive public consultation process. The revision aims to address the concerns and proposals raised by citizens across the island.
The consultation period, which began on December 17th last year and ended on January 10th, saw active participation from the public, with approximately 400 submissions received from individuals across all nine provinces.
The PUC had called for public opinions on the proposed changes to electricity tariffs as part of its effort to ensure that the new rates are fair and reflective of the needs of the consumers.
Among the suggestions presented, one of the most notable proposals was a call for a reduction in electricity rates by about 20%, a move that would have a significant impact on households and businesses alike.
After thorough analysis of the feedback, the Commission will release a report today detailing the recommendations based on the public’s input and further studies conducted on the matter.
The report is expected to provide clarity on whether or not such reductions will be feasible and outline the final decisions on tariff adjustments.
