The Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs has officially dismissed rumors circulating on social media that Sigiriya, one of Sri Lanka's most iconic tourist destinations, has been opened to tourists at night.

A recent post, which went viral, claimed that Sigiriya would now be accessible for night visit. The post also included a photograph purportedly showing a night view of Sigiriya, fueling further speculation.

However, in a media release issued today, the Ministry firmly rejected these claims, stating that no decision has been made to allow nighttime access to the site. Furthermore, the Ministry clarified that the photograph shared on social media was not related to Sigiriya and did not represent any part of the historic rock fortress.

The Ministry urged the public to disregard the false information and to rely on official announcements for updates regarding Sigiriya and other cultural sites. The statement also emphasized the importance of preserving the sanctity and safety of cultural heritage sites, which remain under strict regulation.

Tourists are encouraged to visit Sigiriya during the designated hours, with the government continuing to ensure its preservation as a significant cultural landmark.
