Provincial Crime Divisions to be Establish to tackle Organized Crime

Acting Inspector General of Police ( IGP), Priyantha Weerasooriya, has revealed plans to create provincial crime divisions to address organized crime. At present, these divisions are operational in the Southern and Western Provinces.
He revealed that cabinet approval has been requested to expand these divisions to the other seven provinces. The divisions will also focus on controlling drug trafficking.
He emphasized that these units will analyze organized crime trends and take immediate action to prevent such activities.
