Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala announced that the government has increased daily passport issuance to 2,500.
The minister stated that previously, only 1,200 passports were issued each day. To meet the growing demand, a separate counter has been set up for individuals needing passports urgently for overseas travel.
Applications submitted at this special counter will be reviewed by a dedicated committee, and steps will be taken to issue passports as quickly as possible, the minister added.
