Sri Lanka has made significant strides in the 2025 Henley Passport Index, climbing to 96th place, sharing the position with Iran and South Sudan.

Sri Lankan passport holders now enjoy visa-free access to 44 destinations worldwide, a notable improvement from 100th place in 2023 and 102nd in 2022.

In the global rankings, Singapore secured the top spot with visa-free access to an impressive 195 destinations, followed closely by Japan at 193. Japan regained access to China after the pandemic, further bolstering its position.

The Henley Passport Index ranks a total of 199 passports globally, based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This year’s ranking highlights the steady progress of Sri Lanka’s passport and its increasing international mobility.
