In response to the upcoming Thai Pongal festival and weekend holiday, the Railway Department has introduced four special trains to accommodate increased passenger demand. Railway General Manager A.D. Jayasundara confirmed that these special services have been operational since January 10th.
The special train schedule includes:
A train departing from Colombo Fort to Badulla at 7:30 PM.
A return train from Badulla to Colombo Fort at 5:40 PM.
A special intercity train running from Colombo Fort to Kankesanthurai at 5:30 AM.
A return train from Kankesanthurai to Colombo Fort at 1:50 PM.
These additional services aim to provide convenient travel options for passengers during the busy holiday period. The Railway Department urges travelers to take advantage of the special trains for a smooth and timely journey.
