The Ministry of Defense has announced that the deadline to return licensed firearms issued for personal use will not be extended beyond January 20, 2025.

The Ministry stated that firearms issued by the police and the army during the war, currently held under personal licenses, must be returned for inspection by the specified date. Legal action will be taken against those who fail to comply.

The original deadline for returning firearms was December 31, 2024, but an extension was granted for firearms issued by the police and army to facilitate returns.

The Ministry previously announced through various media channels that all firearms and ammunition issued to civilians for personal protection must be returned to the government  for a quantitative review. Following this inspection, only one firearm per individual will be reissued for personal protection, based on intelligence reports.
