New Director General Appointed to the Bribery Commission

High Court Judge Ranga Srinath Abeywickrama has been appointed as the new Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, effective today.

The appointment was made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, exercising the powers granted under Section 17(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 9 of 2023. Judge Abeywickrama’s appointment comes at a critical time as the commission continues its efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability within the public sector.

With a distinguished legal career, Abeywickrama brings significant experience to the role, which is pivotal in the country’s ongoing fight against corruption.
