Speaker announces New Appointments for Key Parliamentary Committees

As per the motion agreed to by Parliament on December 6, 2024, and the recommendations of the Committee of Selection, the following MPs were nominated to the Committee on Parliamentary Business, notwithstanding the provisions of Standing Order 115:

    •    Hon. (Prof.) Anil Jayantha

    •    Hon. Gamagedara Dissanayake

    •    Hon. Gayan Janaka

Additionally, the Speaker announced the nomination of the following MPs to the Committee on Public Finance (COPF) in accordance with Standing Order 121:

    •    Hon. Chathuranga Abeysinghe

    •    Hon. Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam

    •    Hon. (Dr.) (Ms.) Kaushalya Ariyarathne

    •    Hon. Arkam Ilyas

The Speaker also informed the Parliament that the Committee on Parliamentary Business, at its meeting on December 31, 2024, approved the re-establishment of two key parliamentary caucuses for the current Parliament.
