PM says Social Change requires Time and Public Involvement
Responding to a question in Parliament today ( January 8) from MP Asitha Niroshana about transforming the education and media sectors, the Prime Minister said citizens elected the government for profound change, not just a shift in leadership.
Dr. Amarasuriya emphasized the need for public involvement, stating, “This transformation is not just about individuals but a deeper shift across society. Challenges and opposition are inevitable, but we are committed to respecting the people’s mandate and facing these challenges head-on.”
She added that transformation requires ethical approaches and active public participation, explaining that true change goes beyond institutions to how people interact and behave. The Prime Minister concluded by reminding Parliament that such changes are part of a long-term process.
