Cabinet Spokesman, Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, announced this decision during the Cabinet press conference held today (January 7).
He emphasized that the Sri Lankan Government has consistently upheld this policy, recognizing the People’s Republic of China as the only legitimate China and considering Taiwan an inalienable part of it.
The approval was granted following a submission by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Vijitha Herath confirming that Sri Lanka will maintain its stance on the policy and act accordingly.
Meanwhile, President Dissanayake is scheduled to visit China from January 14 to 17, 2025.
