Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Sri Lanka later this year, the Indian High Commission in Colombo confirmed on today (January 7).

While the exact dates are yet to be finalized, Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha stated that discussions are ongoing to determine a suitable time for the visit.

The invitation for the visit was extended by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake during his trip to New Delhi in December, marking his first foreign visit since taking office in September. Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar was the first international official to visit Sri Lanka after Dissanayake assumed the presidency.

This will be Modi’s third visit to Sri Lanka, following his previous trips in 2015 and 2017. Meanwhile, President Dissanayake is scheduled to visit China from January 14 to 17, 2025, as announced by the Cabinet Spokesman.
