Prime Minister and Minister of Education Dr. Harini Amarasuriya announced today (January 7) that a review will be conducted on the partially completed schools under the "Nearest School is the Best School" program, launched in 2016.

Speaking in Parliament, Dr. Amarasuriya stated, “We are currently reviewing the schools selected for the project. Many of these schools are only partially completed and have stopped midway.”

The Prime Minister explained, “We are evaluating all these schools as part of our plan. Our goal is to establish a primary school within a 3-kilometer radius that is accessible to all children, along with a fully equipped secondary school created by combining several such schools. Priority will be given to schools where 80%-90% of the construction is already completed.”

The review is part of an effort to ensure that resources are utilized efficiently and the project goals are achieved.
