Sri Lanka Police announced a noticeable drop in road accidents since the launch of a special vehicle inspection operation on December 22, 2024.

Speaking to the media today ( January 6), Police Spokesman SSP Buddhika Manatunga revealed that fatal accidents have decreased by 4-5 incidents per day, while serious accidents or those causing severe injuries have dropped by 8-10 incidents daily.

He emphasized the success of the operation and urged vehicle owners and public transport drivers to remove any illegal modifications from their vehicles.

SSP Manatunga also stated that despite attempts by some groups to disrupt the inspections, the Sri Lanka Police will continue the operation to ensure public safety.
