Navy Commander Meets Deputy Minister of Defence

This was Vice Admiral Banagoda’s first official meeting with the Deputy Minister since becoming the 26th Commander of the Navy, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Jayasekara congratulated the Navy Commander on his new role and outlined key priorities for the Navy. These included maintaining operational excellence and adhering to high standards of governance and accountability. Highlighting the significance of the occasion, the Commander of the Navy presented a memento to the Deputy Minister of Defence.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Navy in ensuring maritime security while emphasizing good governance, fiscal responsibility, and the welfare of naval personnel, both active and retired .
