Sri Lanka Ports Authority Hits Record Throughput in Last Year

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) achieved its highest-ever container throughput, handling 2.41 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in 2024.
The Port of Colombo, which includes key terminals like South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT) and Colombo International Container Terminal (CICT), recorded a total throughput of 7.78 million TEUs.
With ongoing infrastructure developments, such as the partial operation of the Colombo East Container Terminal and the upcoming Colombo West International Terminal, the port’s capacity and efficiency are expected to increase further, solidifying its role as one of a major hub in the region.
