Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has emphasized the need to investigate the growing issue of children disengaging from the education system, particularly at the Advanced Level stage. Speaking during an inspection tour of the Maharagama National Institute of Education, she highlighted the concerning trend of decreasing attendance in high school classrooms, with boys, in particular, increasingly absent from the education system.
Dr. Amarasuriya stressed that no child should miss out on educational opportunities for social or economic reasons. She reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring that every child has access to early childhood development, thirteen years of schooling, and opportunities for higher education.
