Colombo Stock Market Surpasses 16,000 Mark with New Record

The All Share Price Index (ASPI) of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) crossed the 16,000 milestone today (2 January ), reaching 16,141.71 points with a gain of 197.10 points (1.24%) during morning trade.
The CSE reported a turnover of Rs. 2.5 billion so far, reflecting strong market activity.
This follows an impressive performance in 2024 when the ASPI grew by 49.66%, rising from 10,654.15 to 15,944.61 points. The market capitalization also hit a record high of Rs. 5.69 trillion, highlighting the stock market’s continued upward trend.
