Sri Lanka Police have announced that their operations to apprehend drunk drivers will continue throughout today, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure road safety during the New Year celebrations.

SSP Buddhika Manthunga, Director and Spokesperson for the Police Media Division, confirmed that officers have been deployed at police stations across the country to enforce this crucial operation. The public has been urged to refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol, as part of the Police's initiative to curb road accidents and maintain order during the festivities.

Additionally, the Acting Inspector General of Police has issued instructions for strict enforcement of the law against individuals found driving while intoxicated, emphasizing that violations will not be tolerated. The public is encouraged to stay responsible and prioritize safety for themselves and others during the celebrations.
