Sri Lanka Customs has announced that 79,000 metric tonnes of imported rice have been cleared as of 12 PM today (December 31).
According to Customs Media Spokesperson and Additional Director General Seevali Arukgoda, the cleared stock consists of 31,000 metric tonnes of Raw rice and 48,000 metric tonnes of Nadu rice.
The announcement also highlighted that 780 metric tonnes of this rice were imported by the Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation.
This large quantity of rice is expected to support local market needs and stabilize supply in the coming weeks.
