Full Compensation for Crop Damage during "Yala" Season to Be Disbursed by January

The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board has announced that all compensation for crop damage caused by floods, droughts, and wild elephant attacks during the 2024 "Yala" season will be fully paid by January 5, 2025.

The Board stated that between March and October 2024, significant damage was reported to paddy fields and other crops across the country due to natural disasters and wild elephant attacks.

So far, nearly Rs. 80 million has been disbursed to 80% of the affected farmers. The remaining payments will be credited directly to farmers’ bank accounts by the January 5 completely.

Additionally, the Board confirmed that arrangements are in place to compensate farmers for crop damage during the 2024/2025 ‘Maha’ season, with payments expected to begin early next month.
