He highlighted Carter’s significant contributions to global well-being, which were recognized when he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
“May his legacy live on as a beacon of hope to build a better world for all,” President Dissanayake wrote, acknowledging the lasting impact of Carter’s work on the global stage. Carter, who served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981, is remembered for his efforts in mediating peace, promoting human rights, and his continued work with the Carter Center after his presidency.
