The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation has unveiled two major projects to boost Sri Lanka's aviation sector.

Proposals are invited for a feasibility study on expanding Jaffna International Airport (JIA) in Palaly. Airport consultancy firms meeting specific criteria can participate. A pre-proposal conference and site visit are scheduled for January 8, 2025, at JIA. Proposals must be submitted by 2:00 p.m. on January 29, 2025.

Additionally, bids are open for completing Phase II Stage 2, Package A1 of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Development Project.

This involves constructing the main terminal, piers, and related infrastructure. The project, paused in 2022 due to economic issues, will utilize previously procured materials. Bids are due by 2:00 p.m. on March 18, 2025.

These projects aim to strengthen Sri Lanka’s aviation infrastructure and capacity.
