The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) has reported a rise in scams targeting bank accounts during the festive season.

Chief Information Security Engineer Nirosh Ananda urged the public to stay vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudsters.

He explained that scammers are using fake emails and SMS messages, often containing fake offers or coupons, to deceive people.

Ananda strongly advised against clicking on any links in such messages and emphasized the importance of not sharing bank account details or one-time passwords (OTPs) with anyone under any circumstances.

The CERT reminds the public to be cautious with online transactions and verify the authenticity of messages to protect their finances during this busy season.
