Azerbaijan Airlines Flight Downed by Russian Air Defence

An Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft was brought down by a Russian air defense system, according to four Reuters sources in Azerbaijan familiar with the investigation. The plane, an Embraer passenger jet, crashed near Aktau city in Kazakhstan, resulting in the death of 38 individuals on board.
The jet was en route from an area in Russia where Moscow has recently utilized air defense systems to counter Ukrainian drone strikes. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday. The investigation into the crash is ongoing and more details are expected to be released in the coming days.
