New Railway General Manager, Mr. J.I.D. Jayasundara, Assumes Duties
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Jayasundara served as the Director General (Technology) of the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation (Transport Division) and has previously held the position of General Manager of Railways.
The ceremony, which took place amidst the Seth Pirith chanting of the Maha Sangha, was attended by key officials, including the Additional General Manager of the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, Mr. L. H. Thilakaratne, as well as senior officials from the Ministry and a group of Railway Department personnel.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Jayasundara outlined his vision for the Railway Department, emphasizing that, in line with the policies of the new government, steps will be taken to position the Railway Department as a leading institution in providing optimal services to the public. He also called for the commitment and support of all officials to achieve these goals.
The new Railway General Manager's leadership is expected to bring significant improvements to Sri Lanka's railway services.
