Mr. Gihan de Silva Appointed as New Chairman of the SLRC

Mr. Gihan de Silva has been appointed as the new chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupawahini Corporation (SLRC). The appointment made by the Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa follows the resignation of the former chairman Mr. Senesh Dissanayake Bandara.

Mr. Gihan de Silva, a highly regarded business professional, brings over 25 years of experience in multi-brand corporate operations across Sri Lanka. His extensive career spans various sectors, marking him as a leader in the Sri Lankan corporate landscape.

An alumnus of Nalanda College, Colombo, Mr. de Silva holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayawardenepura and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the University of Colombo. His academic background, combined with his practical experience, positions him to lead the national broadcaster in its next phase of growth and innovation.

In addition to his corporate achievements, Mr. de Silva is actively involved in national development initiatives. He is a member of the Presidential Task Force for the "Clean Sri Lanka" program, a key initiative aimed at promoting national development and sustainability under the new government.

The Sri Lanka Rupawahini Corporation, the country's state-run television network, is poised for a new era under the leadership of Mr. Gihan de Silva, who is expected to bring fresh perspectives and strategic vision to the organization.

This appointment is seen as a significant step towards the revitalization and transformation of SLRC, ensuring that it continues to serve the public with quality content and upholds its role as a vital player in Sri Lanka's media industry.
