Sri Lanka's beloved veteran singer Priya Suriyasena passed away at the age of 80 leaving behind a legacy of timeless music that touched the hearts of millions. Known for his voice and lyrical talent Suriyasena captivated audiences for decades becoming an iconic figure in the Sri Lankan music industry.

His body is currently laid to rest at his residence on Gangodawila School Road in Nugegoda, where a large number of people are gathering to pay their last respects.

Suriyasena began his musical journey in 1968 with ballads, making a notable shift to singing simple songs in 1972. Suriyasena also gained recognition for his contributions to film soundtracks, lending his voice to numerous films, including Mal Kekulu and Sikuru Dasawa.His most popular songs, including Atha Ranviman, Mata Wasana, Adaraneeya Neranjana, Ratakin Eha, Sudu Paravi Rena, Etha ranviman, Asuri mideela etc.The body is to be laid at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation premises today from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The funeral service will take place tomorrow afternoon at the Borella Cemetery, where family, friends, and fans will bid their final farewells to the legendary artist.
