Dr. Senesh Bandara Dissanayake, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC), has resigned just three months after taking up the position under the National People's Power (NPP) government.

In a statement shared on social media, Dr. Dissanayake clarified that his tenure was intended to be temporary. “I only accepted this role for three months, and it is now time for me to step aside,” he said, expressing gratitude to the staff and stakeholders for their support during his brief leadership.

Dr. Dissanayake was appointed following President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s electoral victory as part of a government initiative to restructure state media and promote independent journalism.

A senior lecturer and an acclaimed film director, Dr. Dissanayake brought his expertise to the role during his short time at the helm of the national broadcaster.
