Sri Lanka Police have taken legal action against 8,747 individuals for violating traffic laws within the last 24 hours, including 251 drivers caught under the influence of alcohol.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga announced that island-wide operations targeting drunk drivers are currently underway, with special teams deployed to enforce the law systematically.

Drivers are strongly urged to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol to ensure road safety during the festive season.
