Minister of Labour, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Prof. Anil Jayantha, has announced that a salary increase for public sector employees will be implemented in 2025.
Speaking at a media briefing today (December 24), Prof. Jayantha stressed the government’s commitment to addressing the economic difficulties faced by the public.
“If we wanted, we could claim the economy has collapsed and ask people to wait or delay it until 2026. But we won’t do that. We understand the struggles people are facing. A salary increase will definitely happen, and I will present the details in the budget,” he stated.
