The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) announced the successful connection of the new grid substation at Wagawatta to the national grid, marking a significant boost to the national electricity network.
With an investment of Rs. 2,300 million funded by the Board of Investments Sri Lanka, the substation will supply power to the Wagawatta and Millaniya industrial zones of Board of Investments Sri Lanka.
Its 90 MVA capacity is expected to strengthen the reliability of the national supply while supporting both existing and upcoming industries.
The project was constructed on a five-acre land donated by the Board of Investments Sri Lanka. It was fully designed, built, and commissioned by the CEB’s Transmission Construction Projects Branch, using its own staff.
This new addition not only enhances power distribution but also marks the first grid substation project entirely executed by the CEB’s in-house team.
