Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some districts

The low-pressure area in the Southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to move north-westwards towards north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coast during the next 12 hours and then northwards along Andhra Pradesh coast.

Showers will occur at times in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Several spells of showers may occur in North-western province. 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Uva, Central and Eastern provinces and in Hambantota and Polonnaruwa districts during the evening or night. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in Uva province. 

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Uva and Eastern provinces during the morning.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The low-pressure area in the Southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to move north-westwards towards north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coast during the next 12 hours and then northwards along Andhra Pradesh coast.

Naval and fishing communities, engaging activities over Bay of Bengal are requested to be attentive to the future forecasts and bulletins issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regard.

Condition of Rain:

Showers will occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the other sea areas around the island during the afternoon or night.

Winds:

Winds will be Westerly to South-westerly in the sea areas around the island and speed will be (25-35) kmph. 

Wind speed can increase up to (45-50) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Hambantota via Matara. 

State of Sea:

The sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Hambantota via Matara will be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the island may be moderate.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
