The ICC Board has decided that all matches between India and Pakistan in ICC events from 2024 to 2027 will be played at neutral venues, regardless of the host nation.

This policy will apply to tournaments such as the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 (Pakistan), ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 (India), and ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 (India and Sri Lanka).

Sri Lanka has missed its opportunity to participate in the Champions Trophy due to this decision. With India and Pakistan agreeing to neutral venues, Sri Lanka failed to qualify for the 2025 edition and had little chance of doing so amidst the disagreement between the two cricketing nations.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has also been awarded hosting rights for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2028, which will follow the same neutral venue policy. Meanwhile, Cricket Australia will host a senior ICC women’s event between 2029 and 2031.

The match schedule for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 is expected to be released soon.
