Sri Lanka Cricket has announced the squad for the upcoming Twenty20 series against New Zealand, with the first match set to take place on December 28. A 16-member squad has been named, with Charith Asalanka appointed as the captain for the series.

 The squad includes a strong line-up of batsmen, featuring Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Janith Perera, Avishka Fernando, Kamindu Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa. On the bowling front, Sri Lanka will be relying on the talents of Wanindu Hasaranga, Mahesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandase, Chamidu Wickramasinghe, Mathisha Pathirana, Nuwan Thushara, Asitha Fernando, and Binura Fernando.

The first match of the series will be held on December 28, followed by the second and third matches on December 30 and January 2, respectively. The Sri Lankan team is scheduled to depart for New Zealand the day after tomorrow, December 20, ahead of their first match.

This T20 series will serve as crucial preparation for Sri Lanka as they aim to continue building momentum in the shortest format of the game.
