The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLFEB) has issued a strong warning about a scam in which fraudulent WhatsApp messages, accompanied by photographs of senior officials from the Bureau, are being used to deceive individuals by claiming to offer jobs in Israel.
Several victims have already come forward, filing complaints through the "Tell the Chairman" program, reporting that their photos, taken from the Bureau's official Facebook page, are being misused by the scammers. These individuals have been falsely promised employment opportunities in Israel, leading to financial losses.
The SLFEB has confirmed that these activities are entirely fraudulent and has urged the public, particularly those seeking foreign employment, not to fall victim to such scams. The Bureau clarified that there is no connection between these fraudsters and the official services provided by the Bureau.
In response, the Bureau has called on the public to report any similar fraudulent activities immediately. Information can be shared through their 24-hour hotline at 1989 or via WhatsApp at 071 759 3593.
The Bureau emphasized its commitment to protecting citizens and ensuring that those seeking overseas employment do so through legitimate and authorized channels.
