Sri Lanka Customs has flagged two major shipments of imported rice due to serious quality issues.
The first consignment, weighing 50,000 kilograms, was found to be infested with weevils, commonly known as “Gullo.” This has raised significant food safety concerns.
Additionally, another shipment of 25,000 kilograms was flagged due to incorrect product information labeling, which could violate import regulations.
Authorities have instructed the importers to re-export these defective stocks immediately. Failure to comply will result in the confiscation of the shipments.
