Former Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) Director, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nevil Silva, has been further remanded until December 20 by the Ratnapura Magistrate's Court.
ASP Silva was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on December 9 at the Police Field Force Headquarters. He was presented in court on December 10.
The CID began investigating Silva after receiving a complaint that he had acted in a biased manner toward a complainant while handling a case filed with the CCD in August 2023.
The investigation revealed that Silva had aided and abetted in an incident involving abduction and wrongful confinement. Further legal proceedings are ongoing.
