Farmers to Receive Rs. 100,000 Compensation for Crop Damage
Speaking to the media, Karunaratne stated that assessments are underway to determine the extent of damaged farmland and the number of affected families. He assured that the government is committed to fulfilling its responsibility to compensate farmers.
Farmers can also seek assistance from local government bodies to prepare their land for cultivation. The Deputy Minister highlighted that many paddy fields are covered with one to two feet of sand, requiring machinery to restore the land. He emphasized that the restoration process will be coordinated with relevant government institutions.
