The Chinese government has generously donated the entire school uniform requirement for Sri Lanka's 2025 academic year.

The symbolic handover of the donation took place today at the International Container Terminal in Colombo Port, where Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhonghong presented the donation to Sri Lanka’s Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Training, and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

The Prime Minister expressed her profound gratitude to the Chinese government for its support, highlighting the importance of this contribution, which will provide uniforms for an estimated 4.64 million students across Sri Lanka. The total fabric requirement for the 2025 school year is 11,817 million meters, with the donation covering the entire need.
The fabric donation will be delivered in three shipments, with the first and second shipments already reaching the country. The final shipment is expected to arrive on December 25th, ensuring that the uniforms will be available in time for the next academic year.
This generous gesture further strengthens the bilateral ties between China and Sri Lanka, and will significantly ease the financial burden on families in Sri Lanka, contributing to the educational development of the nation's youth.
