The Cabinet has approved a proposal to introduce a digital driver's license to replace the current system, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa announced today ( December 10).
The new digital licence will use advanced technology, enabling better data exchange between institutions. Minister Jayatissa explained that this system will replace the existing smart card-based licenses, which have been in use for nearly 15 years.
He also clarified that the current system will remain operational until the new digital license is introduced, which is designed to align with global standards.
