Sri Lanka is set to receive over 10,000 metric tonnes of rice imported from Thoothukudi Port in India, with the shipment nearing the Colombo Harbour, according to importers.
Additionally, importers have confirmed that over 20,000 metric tonnes of rice dispatched from various Indian ports are expected to arrive by December 13, 2024. Another 20,000 metric tonnes of rice is scheduled to reach Sri Lanka before the Christmas season.
The imported rice includes various types, such as Nadu Rice. Importers stated that all necessary steps are being taken to clear the shipments quickly and ensure immediate distribution to local markets upon arrival.
