The Freedom People's Congress (Nidahasa Janatha Sabhawa) has accused former President Ranil Wickremesinghe of unjustifiably postponing the election, describing it as p a "political abortion committed after a mass corruption as well as an economic murder committed financially".
In a letter addressed to the President, Opposition Leader, Members of Parliament, and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), party leader Dullas Alahapperuma outlined a series of allegations. The letter, titled “Pay the price for aborting democracy; a criminal charge against President Ranil”, details incidents tied to corruption and financial mismanagement.
The Congress has called for the current administration to take action against what it describes as “economic hitmen” and demanded that the former President return public funds allegedly misused during his tenure. The letter also suggests that Ranil Wickremesinghe still has the opportunity to contribute positively to political history by rectifying past actions.
