Former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte has withdrawn his petition challenging the legality of his arrest related to an illegally imported and assembled luxury car found at his wife's residence.

The petition was heard today (December 9) before the President of the Court of Appeal, Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne. During the proceedings, President’s Counsel Sanjay Rajaratnam, representing Ratwatte, informed the court that his client had been granted bail in connection with the case. He then requested permission to withdraw the petition.

The Court of Appeal accepted the request, allowing the petition to be withdrawn and dismissing it accordingly.
