For the first time in Sri Lanka's history, foreign affairs and tourism have been brought under one ministry, a move attributed to the interconnected nature of these sectors, according to Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Vijitha Herath.

He made this statement at the International Bazaar and Cultural Extravaganza 2024 held yesterday (December 7) in Colombo. The event was organized by the Ministry in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Foreign Service Association (SLFSA) and Good Market Sri Lanka.

Minister Vijitha Herath officially inaugurated this second annual edition alongside Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Deputy Minister of Industries, Chathuranga Abeysinghe, and Ministry Secretary, Aruni Ranaraja.

The event featured a wide variety of activities. Highlights included international cuisine, a craft fair, a country parade, cultural performances, a singalong session, a raffle draw, and a kids’ corner.

The Minister, Deputy Minister, senior officials, and SLFSA representatives toured the stalls, interacting with participants and visitors.
