The government will implement new regulations prohibiting the use of children under 12 years old in advertising starting January 1, 2025.

Deputy Minister of Mass Media, Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni, announced this in Parliament today (December 7), stating that the decision aims to protect minors from exploitation in media and advertising. He further mentioned that a Gazette notification formalizing this regulation is being prepared.

This move is part of broader efforts to ensure ethical advertising practices, and safeguard the rights of children.
