Lanka Sathosa has announced new measures to ensure the availability of rice and coconuts at controlled prices, as per the recent directive by the Minister of Trade, Wasantha Samarasinghe. These efforts aim to stabilize the supply during the upcoming festive season
Lanka Sathosa Implements Measures to Ensure Continuous Supply of Rice and Coconuts During Festive Season
Minister Samarasinghe informed Parliament that rice millers have agreed to provide 200,000 kilos of rice daily, while Sathosa will also distribute one million coconuts at a fixed price of Rs. 130 each.
To prevent hoarding, Lanka Sathosa Chairman, Dr. Samitha Perera, stated that each customer will be allowed to purchase a maximum of 3 coconuts and 5 kilos of rice at once.
The rice and coconuts will be available at Sathosa outlets in Colombo and surrounding areas starting today. These measures are expected to ensure the public has access to essential food items during the holiday season at affordable prices.
