Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Administrative Secretary Renuka Perera has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
According to the police, he is accused of sharing false information on social media regarding “ Mahaveer Naal” commemorations in the Northern Province.
The CID alleges that the posts were misleading and intended to create public unrest. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and impact of the alleged posts.
Further legal proceedings are expected following his arrest.
