The Court of Appeal has today (04) acquitted former Member of Parliament, Mrs. Hirunika Premachandra, of charges accusing her of insulting the court.
The decision came after Mrs. Premachandra, through her lawyer, informed the court that she would withdraw the controversial statement she made at a news conference regarding an order issued by the Mt. Magistrate's Court. Furthermore, she assured the court that she would refrain from making such statements in the future.
