Defense Ministry Limits Civilian Firearms Issuance
Exceptions to this rule may be granted after a thorough security evaluation, but the final approval will be at the discretion of the Ministry of Defense.
The ongoing survey has revealed that over 1,500 firearms have been issued to civilians, with some individuals owning multiple weapons. The Ministry is reviewing these cases to ensure compliance with the new policy.
Previously, on October 4, the Ministry of Defense had ordered all firearms and ammunition issued for self-defense to be returned to the government by November 7. These will only be reissued after a comprehensive review to determine the necessity for civilian possession.
The Ministry stated that this measure aims to enhance security while ensuring proper oversight of civilian-held fire arms.
